Carolina Alliance Bank opens its doors in downtown Spartanburg. It has
a 15-member board with John Poole serving as President and Chief Executive Officer and Lamar Simpson as Chief Financial Officer.

Said Poole, “We believe the name Carolina Alliance Bank best represents
what you can expect from this bank. At Carolina Alliance Bank we will join
with our customers for the singular goal of providing the best possible
service for them.”

Despite tough economic times across the country, Carolina Alliance Bank reaches a milestone of $250,000,000 in assets, proving that it remains a strong, growing and viable bank.

A year of change. In April, the Bank merges with Asheville‐based Forest Commercial Bank, giving Carolina Alliance Bank a strong presence in Western North Carolina. John Poole remains as Chief Executive Officer and John Kimberly, Chief Executive Officer and President of Forest Commercial, is named President.

In June, Carolina Alliance Bank opens its fifth location with an office in Anderson.

In August, Carolina Alliance Bank buys Dave McBride Leasing.

Carolina Alliance Bank merges with Pinnacle Bank, headquartered in Greenville. The Bank now has seven locations. David Barnett, Pinnacle’s Chief Executive Officer and President, is named President of the Bank’s Western South Carolina Region, which has four offices.

In addition, the Bank’s Board of Directors grows to 18.

The year of awards. Carolina Alliance Bank is named to the 2016 OTCQX®Best 50, a ranking of top-performing US and international companies traded on the OTCQX Market in 2015.

In October, the Bank was the only financial institution earning a place on South Carolina’s Fastest Growing Companies list, coming in 23rd.

Carolina Alliance Bank forms a holding company, CAB Financial Corporation, and John Poole is named Chief Executive Officer of CAB Financial Corporation, and John Kimberly is named the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer while retaining his title of President.
