Spartanburg Downtown Association

The Spartanburg Downtown Association consists of approximately 150 member businesses located both in and outside of the downtown area. It performs a myriad of services directly related to downtown development, such as promotion and advertising, business recruitment and retention, as well as planning and problem solving among downtown stakeholders. It acts as an advocate and information source for its members. Members are downtown property owners, business owners, residents and patrons.

SDA members receive many benefits including free and reduced cost advertising both individually and collectively in the association’s marketing campaigns, the SDA monthly newsletter, print media and listings on the SDA website. Meetings are held six times per year in various downtown locations featuring speakers on topics of interest and to network with other members.

The SDA works closely with the Spartanburg Convention and Visitors Bureau welcoming conventions/conferences to the area by offering discounts, coupons and other special offers from various participating member businesses.

And the SDA is very active in downtown events. It sponsors and co-sponsors events such as Jazz on the Square, Music on Main, the International Festival, the SDA Fashion Show, A Dickens of a Christmas and Downtown Spartanburg Restaurant Week. Members are encouraged to volunteer or participate in any or all of these events.

SDA dues make it affordable for small businesses. Suggested dues are based on the number of people a business employs and a separate dues structure is offered for individual memberships. Individuals may join SDA for $60 per year. A business with five or less employees may join for $120 per year, six to 20 employees at $240 per year and for companies with more than 20 employees - $600 per year.
